Instruction for WildBerry 5" DSI Touch Screen for Raspberry Pi

Introduction

WildBerry 5inch DSI display is designed specifically for Raspberry Pi computers and connects directly through the MIPI DSI interface, providing excellent image quality, low latency, and responsive capacitive touch control without occupying the HDMI port.

The display supports the latest Raspberry Pi OS and works with Raspberry Pi 5, Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, and other compatible Raspberry Pi boards.

There are two kinds of touch panel for 5inch DSI screen: TN and IPS

Tips about differences between TN and IPS screen:

Viewing Angles: IPS panels offer wider viewing angles compared to TN panels. This means that the colours and images remain consistent even when viewed from different angles. If you often share your screen with others or work on graphics, an IPS panel would be a better choice.
Response Time: If you’re a gamer, the response time of the panel is a critical factor. TN panels generally have faster response times than IPS panels, making them a preferred choice for fast-paced gaming.
Colour Accuracy: For professionals working in graphic design or video editing, colour accuracy is paramount. IPS panels are known for their superior colour accuracy and consistency compared to TN panels.

Hardware Connection

Note:

Power off the Raspberry Pi when install DSI screen
Ensure the ribbon cable is fully inserted and locked.

A. Connect DSI screen with Raspberry Pi 5 through 15pin-1mm to 22pin-0.5mm cable

Pull the DSI slot out
Insert 15pin-1mm end of DSI cable in DSI port of DSI screen (put the contact points of cable upward)
Push the DSI Slot in
Insert the 22pin-0.5mm end of DSI cable to DSI port of Raspberry Pi 5
Insert a TF card with OS in Raspberry Pi board and power on the board
Install Raspberry Pi board back of DSI Screen
Install stand on DSI screen
Power on Raspberry Pi board

B. Connect DSI screen with Raspberry Pi 4/3/2 through 15pin-1mm to 15pin-1mm cable

Pull the DSI slot switch
Insert the DSI flat cable (put the contact points of cable upward)
Push the DSI slot switch
Insert the other end of DSI cable to DSI port of Raspberry Pi 4/3/2
Insert a TF card with OS in Raspberry Pi board
Install Raspberry Pi board back of DSI Screen
Install stand on DSI screen
Power on Raspberry Pi board

Software installation
